The South Bronx Emergency Network -District 3, Inc., more commonly known as SBEN, was formed to; create, develop, maintain, update and implement an emergency and disaster plan for Bronx Community Board 3 (CB3) and beyond. SBEN was formed in June of 2019, received its Not-for-Profit status in August of 2020 and its 501c3 tax exempt status in March of 2022.

Studies have shown that building relationships in a community is the most powerful thing that can be done to prepare for a major emergency or Disaster. From its inception the organization has set out to engage stakeholders in Bronx

Community Board 3 and other communities who are interested in the development, interaction, and integration of such a plan with their own neighborhood and community.

As this is a living plan, SBEN is continuing to develop its Community Emergency & Disaster Plan through: trainings; exercises; engaging governmental agencies, corporate and local communities; and by drawing from real emergency

experiences that the organization has and will encounter.
